BioSecurity

There are two links on the right to BioSecurity information. The Healthy Birds site was set up by OMAFRA (Ontario Ministry Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs) as a way of communicating information on BioSecurity to fanciers.

They have over the last several years done extensive research into the way fanciers practice their various hobbies. This has resulted in a common sense approach to biosecurity that can easily be adapted by the hobbyist.

There are links on the Healthy Bird site to many PDF files on bird health. It is  suggested that they be downloaded  and made available to all members of your club.

BioSecurity kits for individual fanciers will be available soon from OMAFRA! They will be free! When they become available don't forget to order one.

It is important that all fanciers become familiar with these recommendations in the event that  AI (Avian Influenza) or any other infectious transmittable disease surfaces. This will in all likelihood result in a shutdown of our sport and require that all lofts be isolated.
